Hi everyone, I’m Nitin, a first-year CSE student from India. I’m trying to become a frontend developer with experience in Jquery and CSS, and I’m very excited to start contributing to Meshery. My goal is to apply for the LFX Mentorship program. I’m looking for a MeshMate to help guide me and would also love to be pointed to a good first issue to work on. Thanks!"

First off, I’d love to get to know you (and also you get to know me ), so feel free to introduce yourself. Share your skills, areas of interest, and the skills you’re hoping to build.

:rocket: Getting Started

  1. Fill out the Newcomers Form – This helps us know you better and guide you.

  2. Read the Community Handbook – Get an overview of the community and projects at Layer5.

  3. Explore the Repository Overview – Understand the different areas and repos within Layer5.

  4. Assess Your Skills & Interests – Think about what excites you most: docs, frontend, backend, CLI, testing, or build & release.

  5. Dive into the Docs – Especially the logical and architectural concepts. Check out the contributing guidelines and the contributor training series for your area of interest.

  6. Install and Run Meshery – Get hands-on by setting up Meshery locally.

  7. Pick an Open Issue – Find something that interests you and get yourself assigned to it.
    (help wanted or good first issues)

  8. Ask MeshMate – Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, I’ll be happy to guide you along the way.

Community members who show steady and meaningful contributions are usually the first to be considered for mentorship opportunities when new terms open, particularly those making significantly impactful contributions. Keep contributing and stay involved in projects and opportunities will naturally follow.
