First off, We would love to get to know you (and also you get to know me ), so feel free to introduce yourself—share your skills, areas of interest, and the skills you’re hoping to build.

  1. Fill out the Newcomers Form – This helps us know you better and guide you.

  2. Read the Community Handbook – Get an overview of the community and projects at Layer5.

  3. Explore the Repository Overview – Understand the different areas and repos within Layer5.

  4. Assess Your Skills & Interests – Think about what excites you most: docs, frontend, backend, CLI, testing, or build & release.

  5. Dive into the Docs – Especially the logical and architectural concepts. Check out the contributing guidelines and the contributor training series for your area of interest.

  6. Install and Run Meshery – Get hands-on by setting up Meshery locally.

  7. Pick an Open Issue – Find something that interests you and get yourself assigned to it.
