Design Review RFC: Kanvas Empty State Enhancement

The following UX is proposed as the empty state experience for users of Kanvas with improved “Starter Steps” (the three choices that are shown in the center of the canvas).

Behavior

  • Starter Steps are shown on empty canvas whenever a user:
    1. loads the canvas for the first time
    2. when they click New (design)
    3. click “erase canvas” from speed dial.
  • All starter steps will go away when a user drops the first component on the canvas
  • These translucent starter steps are clickable and their containers should elevate in opacity on hover as depicted in the “Import from GitHub” option.
  • Future: User can choose to hide these starter steps in their preferences.
